As Wilcox is a family-run company, we enjoy a family-like working atmosphere where all departments collaborate to complete projects. Aside from work processes, we strive to make a difference in the community through participating in several organizations:
Downie Wenjack Foundation - Donation
"The residential school system has had a lasting impact on the equity, wellbeing and rightful place of Indigenous Peoples on Turtle Island. It’s time for us to acknowledge communities non-Indigenous Canadians have been trained for decades to ignore. Contribute to the fund and be part of the movement to jumpstart reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Peoples. Donations to The Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund help support grassroots, community-based ReconciliACTIONs across Canada." Click to learn more.
Sick Kids Foundation - Donation
"Construct a new, state-of-the-art building on University Avenue. We need to accommodate contemporary best practices and technology, attract world-class medical leaders, and comfort families. So our patients have the best outcomes. Investments in research leadership, clinical trials, and research support units, coupled with ongoing funding for the scientists already recruited, will sustain and accelerate groundbreaking discoveries. Increased funding will speed the translation of these discoveries into treatment. Click to learn more.
Fort Mac Strong Foundation - Donation
We donated to the Fort Mac Fires Fund through UCS Forest Group. 100% of the money collected was donated to the Red Cross Alberta Fires Fund. Warren and Maureen Spitz graciously matched all donations with a personal contribution (up to $20,000) which was matched by the Government of Canada. Therefore, every dollar turned into $3. Movember Foundation - Campaign & Donation
Wilcox has taken on the Prostate Cancer Canada Foundation in the past, now it's time to get our Movember on "The Wilcox Way!" We're raising funds to tackle some of the biggest health issues faced by men: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and poor mental health. Help us stop men from dying too young. "We know what works for men, and how to find and fund the most innovative research to have both a global and local impact. In 13 years we’ve funded more than 1,200 men’s health projects around the world." Click to learn more.
Mississauga Food Bank - Donation
"Help Build a Mississauga Where No One Goes Hungry." For the second year, we've donated to the Mississauga Food Bank to help feed those in our community. The Mississauga Food Bank's highest priority is to feed residents living in poverty. They focus on activities that help to meet their current and future food needs by sourcing the healthiest, most nutritious food possible. This is a fantastic organization that truly values contributions from donors, their volunteers and member agencies. Click to learn more.
New Circles Clothing Drive - Donation
This year, we joined forces with New Circles to collect clothing for those who need it most during the chilly season. New Circles Community Services is a not-for-profit, grass-roots agency that builds strong and caring communities by providing basic necessities to those living in poverty. We provide much needed clothing, social programs, and skill building opportunities to individuals living on a low-income, with a focus on residents of Thorncliffe Park, Flemingdon Park, Victoria Village, and Taylor-Massey (including Crescent Town), many of whom are newcomers to Canada."
PISK - Polish Students' Initiative of Canada
This organization works to provide a networking platform for students and young professionals of Polish heritage. Our donation helps to sponsor Polish events (Mississauga & Toronto Polish festivals), student event discounts, scholarships and trip subsidies, group trips and developing the annual Polish conference (Quo Vadis) that gathers to discuss what can be done to strengthen the community through students, alumni and professionals. MEET THE TEAM
Our team is committed to ensuring our customers continuously receive a high standard of service.
Bill entered the Industrial Door Industry early on in his career. After graduating from college with a welding degree, he became an assistant. Bill excelled in his position and quickly progressed from a lead hand to sales representative to part owner. In 1992, Bill started his own company in Southern Ontario; Select Overhead Door Service Inc.
This company was built on the basis that Customer Service was a number one priority; this philosophy is still at Wilcox today. Within 5 years, Bill’s start-up had become one of the largest Industrial Door Service and Installation companies in the GTA and Golden Horseshoe region. It has continued to grow adding new divisions and eventually changing it's name to Wilcox Door Service Inc., in 2010. As an entrepreneur, Bill always looks for ways to improve Wilcox.
Bill enjoys taking canoe trips and riding motorcycles. He also has a passion for traveling and is a fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays.
